Attention, Ladies and Gentlemen: One Ritz-Carlton Hotel Manager On Creating “Guests for Life”

by | ADVICE FROM THE TOP., INSPIRATION, INTERVIEWS

Join hosco.tv as we get to know Alexander Sell, Hotel Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, a breathtakingly luxurious, 447-room property nestled along the shores of the city’s Grand Canal.

For Sell, who has over 20 years of experience working in the 5-star hotel industry across Europe and the Middle East, the best part of his job is watching how his diverse staff of 600 (from 62 different nationalities!) handles the many situations that can arise daily at a luxury property. Although he’s seen his fair share of management styles over the course of his career, Sell says his own is quite simple: he involves his staff in his decisions and respects their opinions.

His advice to those starting their careers in the hospitality industry? Be willing to move around, try new disciplines, work a lot of hours, and don’t look for money—it will come later on. To hear why Sell thinks the Rooms Division takes more creativity to run, and why he encourages every hotelier to come to the Middle East, watched the full video!
