Hotel Bloom doesn’t like to follow the crowd. Just ask GM Caroline Tjeerde, who says the independent hotel is all about staying away from the ordinary.
The Brussels hotel has 287 rooms, which are all designed in their own unique way. This is because Hotel Bloom hired young independent artists from across Europe to paint frescos in each room, with no guidelines except to use “bloom” as the inspiration. The result was a variety of styles and moods for guests to choose from, and upon check-in, they can browse the different artwork on an iPad before selecting a room for their stay.
For Caroline, who has been a GM for 8 years, Hotel Bloom offers unique challenges in order to continue to stand out and differentiate itself as an independent hotel in a city market. But with a background in revenue management and operations, Caroline is armed with the skills to successfully lead Hotel Bloom.
